Limited Access Death Master File (Limited Access DMF)

Due to changes in federal requirements effective November 28, 2016, access to the Limited Access Death Master File now requires that an Accredited Conformity Assessment Body perform a review or assessment of the entity’s systems, facilities, and procedures and provide a written attestation that the entity has systems, facilities, and procedures in place as required.

To access or renew subscription to the Limited Access Death Master File, entities must complete a review or assessment of the entity's systems, facilities, and procedures to determine whether the entity has appropriate systems, facilities, and procedures in place as required in 15 CFR Part §1110.102(a)(2). The Limited Access Death Master File Certification Program Publication 100 – Information Security Guidelines for Use and Protection of Limited Access DMF Information” (Edition 1.0, June 2016, PB 2016-103252), was promulgated by the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) as a standard to be followed.

 

Accredited Conformity Assessment Body Requirement

xTerraLink is an Accredited Conformity Assessment Body as defined in 15 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part §1110.2 and this means that xTerraLink is accredited to a nationally or internationally recognized standard such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 27006-2011, “Information technology-Security techniques – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of information security management systems,” or any other similar nationally or internationally recognized standard for bodies providing audit and certification of information security management systems, which can include accreditation to perform NIST 800-53 based security assessments.

xTerraLink has rich experience in Publication 100 as a source of recommended guidelines, procedures and best practices for policies, practices, controls and safeguards needed to adequately protect Limited Access Death Master File information. Moreover, xTerraLink is able to attest that the scope of its accreditation encompassing the safeguarding and security requirements required by the standard set forth in 15 CFR Part §1110.
